How long is the food handler course?
The course varies in length depending on your province and the regulations set by the province. The course is typically about 8 hours in length.
How much does the course cost?
Food handler and food safety courses vary in cost depending on your location and the type of course you need. Basic food safety and food handling courses cost anywhere from 50 to 80 dollars. Level 2 or two day courses cost approximately 120 dollars. We only partner with the lowest priced providers in the Canada.
How do I register for a course?
To register for a course select the course of your selection (food safety or food handling) from the side or main menu. You will be directed to a page where you can select your location and then, date, time and more specific location. All registration can be completed comfortably and securely through our training partners’ on-line registration systems.
When do I have to re-certify?
Candidates are not required to re-certify courses unless they are required to do so through a health inspector or regulator.
What should I wear to a course?
Wear comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes. You will be moving around quite a bit so comfort should be taken into account.
Are food safety and food handling courses difficult to complete?
No, over 95% of candidates complete the formal multiple choice test at the end of the course. The test compromises of about 50 multiple choice questions and candidates are required to complete the test with at least 70% to pass the course.
I do not speak english that well, can I take the test or course in another language?
Yes, the test can be taken in other languages and our training providers offer courses in several different languages.
